In the year 1965 several publishers, editors and staff of professional journals for railroad enthusiasts and model railroaders united to the "International Railroad-Press-Association (FERPRESS)" at the annual general meeting of the "European Union of Model Railroad and Railroad Fans" (MOROP).
At that time the association domiciled in Vienna. Later FERPRESS relocated its base to Switzerland due to the fact that the Swiss law of companies is less bureaucratic than the Austrian law.
According to its statutes the association’s activities intend the promotion of editorial work by friendly relations among the people involved in the railroad press and the agency of press releases on railroading and railroad modeling.
Today FERPRESS has about 150 members in 11 European countries and the USA.
